non-beeswax, no beeswax solid perfume base

This is a simple recipe for a solid perfume base that contains no beeswax or animal products, so perfect for those who are vegan or vegetarian. It’s made in the same manner as a traditional solid perfume base, except soy and olive waxes are used in place of the beeswax. This is the perfume base that I created and use for my own solid perfume creations:

Vegan solid perfume base

1/2 tsp soy wax

1/4 tsp olive wax

Soy wax from myoilessentials.etsy.com

1 1/2 tsp liquid oil of your choice (such as organic jojoba oil or almond oil)

10 – 12 drops of essential oils or fragrance oils of your choice

Heat the soy and olive waxes in a small beaker or small heat-proof glass bowl over low heat on the stove, using the double-boiler method. When the waxes have melted, add the liquid oil and stir briefly for a few seconds. Add the essential oils and stir quickly until blended. Remove from stove and pour into jar or container. Set aside and let it cool thoroughly before use.

This makes a little over 10 ml or 1/3 oz of solid perfume. If you want a slightly softer base, use 1 1/4 teaspoons of liquid oil instead of 1 1/2 teaspoons.

  1. Hi Amanda,

Thanks for this great post! I’m attempting to make a batch of solid perfumes as little Christmas gifts for friends and family, but was after a vegan base as we’re all either vegan / veggies ourselves.
